The position
The old town is a prestigious setting for any meeting or convention. Just by stepping out into Piazza del Duomo square, you can take in the beauty of the city and enjoy the services and restaurants in the centre. The conference attendees will be able to stroll through old workshops, picturesque alleys and important monuments between meetings.
Events and conferences with the WOW factor
Inside Santa Maria della Scala you will find everything you need to hold an event including large rooms with the most modern equipment, historic and evocative venues, and flexible rooms suitable for creating areas for meetings, catering and coffee breaks.
The rooms that available for events and conferences are the Italo Calvino Room, located on the 7th floor with a window overlooking the Cathedral, and the Sant’Ansano Room, located on the 4th floor, which is suitable for small conferences, but is a true gem from a historical and artistic point of view.
Italo Calvino Hall
Recently renovated, the historic Italo Calvino Hall is a spacious and flexible environment suitable for conferences and events for up to 290 people seated.
The room was built in the first half of the 1300s to house part of the Women’s Hospital.
Fully equipped and highly attractive, it’s particularly suitable for conferences and exhibitions.
A strong point of this venue is the view of the beautiful Cathedral from the window.
Sant’Ansano Hall
The smaller Sant’Ansano Hall is located on the fourth level of the Museum Complex.
Its construction is the result of the expansion of Santa Maria della Scala that took place in the 13th century toward the backside of the Sant’Ansano ditch when the hospital was extended to include some houses located on the hillside. The historic Sant’Ansano hall can accommodate up to 50 people seated.
The space is presented as a very atmospheric environment due to the careful recovery of the niches that were salvaged in the recent renovation work.
These niches reveal the ancient use of this room as a hospital ward from the late 1500s.
Of course, this room is also equipped for holding small conventions and conferences.
