Art will light up the festive period in Siena.
A magical atmosphere with a focus on sustainability and nature envelops the old town.
At Christmas, we see the extraordinary opening of the site of the Good and Bad Government, from 1 December 2022 to 31 January 2023.
It will be a unique opportunity to admire the Sienese masterpiece up close with a guide.
From 16 December 2022 to 16 March 2023, another major exhibition not to be missed is the photography exhibition ‘Vivian Maier, The Self-Portrait and its Double‘ featuring 93 black-and-white and colour works by the nanny-photographer, who is an international icon of street photography.
A 4-metre work depicting a horse and created by Marco Lodola, one of Italy’s most famous and influential contemporary artists, will also be installed in Piazza del Campo from 9 December.
On the same day and until 9 February, his solo exhibition ‘Dame, cavalieri e nobili destrieri’ (Ladies, Knights and Noble Steeds) will be on display in the beautiful rooms of Santa Maria della Scala.
It’s not all about art though, there’s also plenty of fun for young and old with an ice skating rink, enchanting video mapping on historic buildings and monuments, Christmas markets, street bands and theatre performances.
Siena becomes even more magical at Christmas!
