EXHIBITIONS
At the Santa Maria della Scala Museum, it’s possible to visit three exhibitions, during the whole month of February:
The exhibition “Fausto Melotti. liightness. A tribute to Italo Calvino,” is open until the 7th of April 2024, and is located on the 6th floor of the museum. It honors the friendship between the writer and the artist. The exhibition itinerary winds through 22 sculptures of various sizes and many drawings, spanning a period from 1935 to 1985. The exhibition in particular refers to the works that became images of Calvino’s books due to the re-edition of his writings in the Oscar Mondadori series, which took place in the 2000s.
Moreover, at Santa Maria della Scala, it is possible to visit, by February 23rd, the exhibition titled “DITTICI OCCASIONALI. Ossia la causalità dell’arte,” curated by Lucia Simona Pacchierotti and Carlo Pennatini.
The exhibition “GIUSEPPE GAVAZZI. A Perfect Coincidence,” curated by Mauro Civai, Andrea Sbardellati, Enrico Toti, ends on February 25th at the Magazzini della Corticella of Santa Maria della Scala. The exposition offers a complete review of terracotta and wood sculptures displaying fifty years of brilliant career. The works predominantly depict the human figure, rendered in its daily and spontaneous attitudes.
THEATER
At the Teatro dei Rinnovati, from February 2nd to 4th, the contemporary dance performance “Ingratitude” by the Motus company goes on stage.
From February 9th to 11th, on stage, the performance “Pà,” a piece dedicated to Pier Paolo Pasolini and based on the writer’s texts, will be presented, featuring Luigi Lo Cascio. From February 16th to 18th, it’s the turn of “H2OMIX,” a journey into the world of water brought to the stage by dance illusionists.

MUSIC
The concert season of the Chigiana Music Academy, Micat in Vertice, continues.
On February 9th, the Carnival Concert will take place at the Teatro dei Rozzi, while on February 16th, the Teatro dei Rozzi will host the Winner’s Concert of the 57th International Violin Competition “Premio Paganini.” On February 23rd, once again at Teatro dei Rozzi, it will be possible to attend the concert of the quartet: QUATUOR ÉBÈNE.

CARNIVAL IN PIAZZA
On the 13th of February, get ready for an explosion of fun in Piazza del Campo! From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Piazza del Campo will be transformed for the Carnival dedicated to children and families! An entire afternoon with music, baby dance, masked entertainers and stilt walkers.
