Every first Sunday of the month, the Santa Maria della Scala in Siena opens its doors to the public for free, offering a unique opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage of the city. This initiative allows visitors to immerse themselves in the history and art of the museum complex, as well as appreciate the treasures of the National Archaeological Museum.
Originally a medieval hospital, the Santa Maria della Scala is now a multifunctional museum complex that preserves centuries of history and culture. Through its halls, visitors can discover medieval frescoes, Renaissance artworks, and other artistic treasures that narrate the history and evolution of the city of Siena.
The National Archaeological Museum, located within the complex, offers a journey into the past through its extensive collection of archaeological artifacts.
The museum is open according to the following hours: from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.
