An incredible free-entry exhibition, from March 2nd to May 5th, in the charming Magazzini del Sale.

Step into the spectacular world of the Palio of Siena with the exhibition ‘In Campo la Balzana’!

From March 2nd to May 5th at the Magazzini del Sale, the Municipality of Siena takes you on a journey through the whimsical costumes of the Historical Procession, from 1904 to the present day. And yes, admission is entirely free!

The costumes on display have been carefully selected by the Costume Room of Palazzo Pubblico. Among these, only a limited selection has been exhibited in two previous occasions. The other part of the costumes, accompanied by helmets, armor, and banners, is stored in some municipal deposits and has never been shown to the public! The exhibition doesn’t stop at costumes alone; there are also special areas dedicated to the Drappellone and the Carroccio of 1928, with paintings by Federigo Joni and sculptures by Fulvio Corsini.

And it doesn’t end here! Old and new photos, along with video projections, transport you into the heart of the Historical Procession.

“In Campo la Balzana” is a unique opportunity to look behind the scenes and closely admire precious artifacts, immersing yourself in the visual and emotional imagination of the Historical Procession.

Admission is entirely free, so don’t miss the chance to live this extraordinary experience!

The exhibition is open every day from 10 am to 7 pm, but the last entry is at 6:15 pm.

The exhibition is organized by the Municipality of Siena as part of the “Stagioni dell’Arte”.
