EXHIBITIONS
From March 1 to March 30, the Olmastroni Gallery in Siena will host StillClose, a photographic project by Elvio Pierattini and Marianna Porro, curated by Francesco Nannoni. This exhibition explores contemporary corporeality, placing the naked body and skin at the center—as a diary of individual uniqueness.
Until March 16, 2025, you can visit the Palazzo delle Papesse for the exhibition JULIO LE PARC – THE DISCOVERY OF PERCEPTION, an unmissable event dedicated to contemporary art. The works on display, created by Julio Le Parc between 1958 and 2024, showcase his continuous exploration of movement, color, and light, illustrating his innovative approach to artistic creation.

Until March 30, 2025, don’t miss COSTELLAZIONI, a unique journey through the masterpieces of 20th-century Italian art. For the first time, artworks from the Monte dei Paschi di Siena Bank‘s vaults and the prestigious Cesare Brandi Collection will be on display at Santa Maria della Scala. The exhibition features works by Carrà, Guttuso, Sironi, Donghi, De Pisis, Burri, Severini, Campigli, Morandi, Rosai, Viani, Levi, Mafai, Manzù, Marini, Afro, Scialoja, Turcato, and many others. Curated by Luca Quattrocchi, this exhibition traces a fascinating “constellation” of Italian art, from the Great War era to the early 1960s—covering movements such as Novecento, Art Déco, the Italiens de Paris, Fascist propaganda art, the Roman School, realism, abstractionism, and informalism.

The Gallery of the Civic Museum of Siena (formerly the Quadreria) reopens with a renewed exhibition layout. After years, visitors can once again admire important works by artists such as Ambrogio Lorenzetti, Niccolò Di Ser Sozzo, Neroccio di Bartolomeo De’ Landi, Jacopo della Quercia, Giovan Antonio Bazzi (known as “Il Sodoma”), Alessandro Casolani, Ventura Salimbeni, Francesco Vanni, and Bernardino Mei.
This new exhibition, featuring around 40 artworks from the municipal collection, has been carefully curated to enhance and complement the already established tour of the museum’s grand monumental halls. It offers a comprehensive overview of Sienese art, from the great medieval era to modern times, in harmony with the UNESCO declaration of exceptional universal value for the historic center of Siena.
